After being exposed, Abdulmalik Tanko, the proprietor of Noble Kids Nursery and Primary School, Kawana, Kano, has narrated how he killed 5 year old pupil, Hanifa Abubakar.
Daily News24 reports that Mr Abdulmalik abducted the 5 year old Hanifa, and told his wife that the pupil was the daughter of his female colleague who traveled, and pleaded with her for accommodation for five days.
“I picked her from school in a Keke Napep and took her home. I lied to my Wife that she was the daughter to my colleague at work whose mother travelled and pleaded to keep her for some days which my wife accepted” He said.

Mr Abdulmalik revealed that he became restless when he discovered that he was being suspected to harboring little Hanifa in his house on the fifth day and to that end, he contemplated smuggling little Hanifa to a neighboring state, a move which he thought will expose him. Against that backdrop, he decided to murder the five year old.
“I thought that all the routes in Kano will be sealed and taking Hanifa by road to another state will end up exposing me. I carried Hanifa at night when she was asleep and after I finished drinking my tea, I put the remaining content inside an empty Bobo yoghurt container and then I added a Rat poison killer to it.
I killed Hanifa with a N100 Rat poison
Daily News24 learnt that Mr Abdulmalik lied to Hanifa that he was taking her to her home, as he fed her with the poisonous content on the road to another branch of the deceased school.
“As we were on our way to the school, I gave her the drink, and she consumed it on the road. On reaching the school, I told her to enter the premises of the school and wait for me. She made her way to the school, where she finally died.
“Because I wasn’t able to find any secure place to bury her after she died, I decided to dig a hole inside the school where I buried her. I want to make it clear that I didn’t kill her for money rituals. This is the first time I am doing this and I was shocked because it’s my first time.
I am very very sorry for what I did
I asked for a ransom of 6 million naira which I believed that they will bargain so as they bargained, they said that they didn’t have much and they ended up sending N100,000.
I told them to drop the ransom at Kalifa Isyaka Rabiu city, after Naibawa flyover. Immediately I collected the ransom, I used N71, 000 to pay some of my staff in the other branch of the school.
It was financial crisis that made me to commit the crime. I want to plead to the parent of the girl. I am so sorry about what I did to them. I am very very sorry
Mr Abdulmalik is a graduate of Bayero University Kano and he is the proprietor of the school in which Hanifa was killed.
