The Inspector General of Police, Usman Alkali, has yet again cancelled the posting of a commissioner of police to Kano.
In a signal sent to commands and formations on Monday, the IGP cancelled the deployment of Feleye Olaleye as Kano commissioner of police and posted CP Ahmed Kontagora as a replacement.
But in a counter-signal dispatched last night, the IGP has now posted CP Usaini Gumel to lead the command during the governorship and state assembly elections in the state.
On March 8, following protests by the opposition, the IGP reversed the deployment of CP Balarabe Sule, a former chief security officer to the governor of Kano State, Abdullahi Ganduje, as a replacement for CP Mohammed Yakubu.
In the new signal with reference number TH.5361/FS/FHQ/AB3/SUB.6/146, Mr. Alkali also effected minor changes in the command.
The IGP directed DCP Auwal Musa to swap positions with DCP Nuhu Darma as deputy commissioners of police in charge of operations and the Criminal Investigations Department, CID, respectively.
