Bello Turji, the notorious Zamfara bandit kingpin, has reacted to the military’s recent aerial bombardment of his residence, saying he felt betrayed by the Nigerian government’s action.
Remember that the Nigerian Air Force carried out an air raid in the Fakai area of Shinkafi after receiving credible intelligence, which resulted in the neutralization of some armed bandits from Turji’s camp.
Turji was said to have accused the government of breaking a peace pact they had with him to stop banditry, according to PRNigeria.
According to an audio conversation obtained by PRNigeria, Turji expressed his displeasure with government officials and community leaders.
He said there had been no attacks in the five months since he reached a truce with the government, but now that the military has attacked his home, he feels betrayed, especially after vulnerable people were killed in the airstrikes.
“Peace is priceless, and unless the government wants me to be a warmonger, I am ready to be a peace advocate.”
“I’m prepared for either peace or war.” Whatever the government desires, we can provide in large quantities,” Mr Turji stated in the audio.
