The Kaduna State government has announced the complete ban on the use of Motorbikes, popularly called Okada for both commercial and private use across the state for a period of three months.

Commissioner for Internal security and home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan disclosed this in Kaduna while briefing Journalists

According to him, this, among other measures taken by the government is to address the current security situation bedevilling with the state and neighbouring states.

He said it will take effect from 30th, September, 2021

“As part of steps to address the current security situation in kaduna State and neighbouring states in the north-west and North-Central regions, Kaduna State government has held several meetings with security agencies to adopt critical measures towards crushing bandits in their identified hideouts.

“The military and other security agencies forces have been carrying out assault on the identified locations.The state government is advised that certain measures are now necessary to assist the spirited efforts of these security agencies.

The complete ban on the use of Motorbikes for commercial or personal purposes for three months in the first instance.

Ban on possession of or welding of dangerous weapons.

Tricycles are allowed to operate only from 6am to 7pm. All tricycles must remove all curtains. Movement of all tricycles are restricted from dusk till dawn.

All vehicles used for commercial transport must be painted in yellow and black within 30 days. Vehicles that are part of ride hailing services are to carry yellow and black stripes”, he said.

Aruwan however noted the government regrets the severe strains and inconvenience these measures would have on the peaceful and law abiding citizens, saying it was purely adopted in the interest of the collective effort to further safeguard lives and property, and also aid the forces in their fight against the mindless criminals

He, therefore, appealed for the full cooperation and understanding of all residents in the state.
