Inter Milan has cried out after it appears that Chelsea veteran defender Cesar Azpilicueta has rejected a move to San Siro despite the agreement with the Serie A giants.
Chelsea has reportedly informed their veteran defender that they will no longer be needing his services from next season.
The Chief Executive Officer, CEO, of Inter Milan, Beppe Marotta claimed that the Spanish defender was more ‘tempted’ by Atletico Madrid’s proposal.
Italian transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reports that Azpilicueta is set to join Atletico Madrid this summer.
This is despite having a verbal agreement in place to join Inter Milan.
Marotta said the Spaniard is more tempted by Atletico’s proposal.
“It seems that he’s tempted by a proposal from Spain [Atlético Madrid] and so he’s negotiating with them.
“We considered Azpilicueta as a good option but he’s focused on this bid from Spain,” he said, according to Romano.
