Popular Nigerian Islamic singer, Rukayat Gawat Oyefeso, has reportedly passed away.
The news of her death was announced by Alfa Aribidesi At-Tawdeeh Islamic Da’awah, who posted the sad news on his Facebook account on Tuesday morning.

He wrote, “Our sympathy goes to the family of Ruqayat Gawat for this great loss! May Allah forgive her shortcomings! RUQAYAT GAWAT IS GONE!”
The singer’s passing was also confirmed by her relative, Jubril Gawat, the Senior Special Assistant (SSA) on New Media to Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu. Gawat, in a post on X (formerly Twitter), shared: “Indeed we belong to Allah, and indeed to Him we will return.” He also quoted a verse from the Quran, Q 2 V 156.
Gboyega Akosile, another aide to Governor Sanwo-Olu, also expressed his condolences, quoting Gawat’s tweet. He wrote, “Ina lillahi waina ilaehi rajiun. May the Almighty Allah, who is the giver and taker of life, console the family of my dear brothers @Mr_JAGs @tfk_gawat on the demise of our beloved sister, Rukayat. May Aljannah Firdaus be her permanent home. May Allah grant you the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.”
Rukayat Gawat Oyefeso’s remains will be laid to rest later today according to Islamic rites.
