Members of the Joint Health Sector Unions and Assembly of Health Care Professionals (JOHESU) have announced a seven-day warning strike, effective from midnight on Friday.
This action follows a fifteen-day notice of industrial action submitted to the Federal Government.

During a press briefing in Abuja, the national chairman of JOHESU, Kabiru Minjibir, outlined several key demands that prompted the strike. These include the immediate implementation of a consolidated health salary structure, the payment of a 25% review of arrears from June to December 2023, an upward review of the retirement age for health workers, a tax waiver on allowances for healthcare professionals, and the immediate disbursement of COVID-19 inducement hazard allowances.
Minjibir emphasized the urgency of these demands and called on all union members nationwide to comply with the strike directive. The union’s decision highlights ongoing concerns within the health sector regarding compensation and working conditions for healthcare workers.
