Alhassan Ado-Doguwa, Majority Leader of the House of Representatives, says there is fire on the mountain in Kano State’s All Progressives Congress family.

He asserted that the APC in the state has been experiencing silent crises, which will have an impact on the party in the 2023 elections.

The lawmaker, who spoke to journalists at the National Assembly on Friday, expressed confidence that APC presidential candidate Bola Tinubu will build on President Muhammadu Buhari’s achievements.

“It is my hope, and the hope of the APC people in Nigeria, that Bola (Tinubu) can discharge his duties; that Bola can consolidate the gains previously laid out by President Muhammadu Buhari,” he said.

However, Ado-Doguwa stated that while Governor Abdullahi Ganduje has administered the state well, those he delegated party affairs to in the state witch-hunt loyal party members, forcing them to defect from the party.

Ado-Doguwa, who represents Kano’s Doguwa/Tudun Wada Federal Constituency, insisted that he has no feud with the governor, as has been widely reported.

“The time has come for me to come out sincerely as a peaceful member of my party and discharge my responsibility,” the lawmaker said.

“I want to say today, without fear of contraction; without fear of intimidation; without fear of any quarter or authority anywhere, that there is fire on the mountain in Kano State as far as the APC is concerned.” There is fire on the mountain, I repeat, there is fire on the mountain.

“This is the right time to say it because we have been in a silent crisis, particularly in the areas of party administration and politicking, with a lot of intrigues and exclusion of members.”

“The management and administration of the party are done solely by a few members of the party who are not supposed to handle what they are handling in the APC.” “I’d like to clarify that I’m talking about Kano party politics; specifically, our party, the APC,” he added.

Kano, which received over 1.8 million votes in the 2019 presidential election, has recently seen mass defections from the APC, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) amid intense permutations for the 2023 general elections.
