The Kano State House of Assembly has pledged to provide an enhanced welfare package for personnel of the Kano State Hisbah Board, aiming to boost their efficiency in service delivery.
Alhaji Abdulhamid Abdul, who represents the Minjibir constituency, made this commitment while receiving Dr. Mujahideen Abubakar, the Deputy Commander General of the board, at the Assembly Complex in Kano.

The Hisbah Corps, which was established in 2000 by the state government to maintain security through its hisbah units, is now the focus of a bill sponsored by Abdulhamid. The bill seeks to revise the remuneration and allowances of Hisbah officers and facilitate their integration into the state civil service.
Speaking on the bill, Abdulhamid said, “Due to the critical role the Hisbah Board plays in maintaining societal order, the House will consider amending the law that established it, with a view to securing approval from the Executive.”
In response, Dr. Mujahideen Abubakar praised the Minjibir representative for his vision in sponsoring the bill. “Kano State Hisbah will continue its efforts to rid the state of vices,” he said, emphasizing the boardโs commitment to upholding moral standards.
On October 14, 2024, Abdulhamid presented a motion to the Assembly, calling for the absorption of Hisbah personnel into the civil service and a review of their allowances. The House has promised to thoroughly examine the issue before moving forward with repealing and amending the law governing the board
