The Kano State censorship board has banned all film productions that have any elements of transvestites and hoodlums in them.
This was disclosed after meeting with the relevant stakeholders in the film industry to tackle the menace of these types of films that are contributing to moral decadence and promoting violent behavior amongst youths and children in the state.
In a statement issued to the press after the meeting, the executive secretary of the board, Abba Almustapha, said the decision was taken due to the public outcries received by the management about those kinds of films that promote deviant behaviors among youths across the state which impacted on their behavior, morality and psychology of them as people, most especially the teeming youths and teenagers across the state.

Abba added that “it is high time to fish out any film that may demoralize our customs, norms, and values.”
He emphasizes the need for the various stakeholders in the film industry to depict and promote good behavior and values in their film productions.
The Kano State censorship board is empowered by the act of the law to ban, suspend, or prohibit productions, distributions, sales, and exhibitions of any film that is considered deviant from the existing norms of the state laws. It is also responsible for screening films, books, and other literary contents before they go out to the public in the state.
