A young businessman in Kano Abba Abdullahi has returned a sum of N370,000 which was mistakenly transferred into his bank account by a lady.

Daily News 24 reports that Mr Abdullahi narrated how he received the mysterious funds in a post on his Facebook page.

He said the money stayed in his bank accounts for two weeks while he waited for the sender to call and explain why she sent the money to him.

According to him: “Two weeks ago, one lady sent N370,000 to my bank account. I felt so happy and waited patiently for the sender to call and explain the reason for sending me the money.

“I thought she was buying shoes from me but there was no explanation.

“After waiting for days, I went to the bank and told them that money was sent to me but there was no source.

“They checked the account number of the person who sent the money to me and requested to call the sender with my consent.

“I was given a form to fill after which the bank staff called the lady but she didn’t answer the phone calls.

“So I started to wonder if this money was sent to me as Zakat (charity).

“But the lady later answered subsequent calls by the bankers who explained to her that someone wanted to return the money she erroneously sent to his account.

“Hearing this, the lady burst into tears, saying she had been suffering for a week trying to reverse the transfer from her own bank without success.

“As I stood in the banking hall, people were just looking at me in amusement.

“I spoke to the woman who was still crying and told her I was returning her money immediately and she was so excited that she told me to deduct N20,000 as a token of appreciation.

“But I took just N5,000 and transferred N365,000 back to her. I was desperate to leave because I was hungry”.

Since Mr Abdullahi posted the narration, netizens have been sharing the post and praising his honesty across different social media platforms.

Mr Abdullahi’s story came less than one week after a POS operator also in Kano, Muhammad Sani received N500,000 gift for returning N10 million sent to him in error instead of N10,000.
