The Kano State Government has announced significant changes to bolster its digital and creative economies with the appointment of Dr. Bashir Abdu Muzakkari as the Special Adviser on Digital and Creative Economy, transitioning from his previous role as Special Adviser on Digital Economy.

Daily News 24 reports that Dr Muzakkari has also been designated as the state focal person for the Investment in Digital and Creative Enterprise (I-DICE) programme.

This move, approved by the Executive Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, was confirmed in a statement by the Secretary to the State Government, Baffa Bichi.

“This strategic move highlights the administration’s commitment to fostering growth and innovation within the digital and creative sectors, recognizing the vital role these industries play in the economic development of Kano State,” Bichi stated.

Dr. Muzakkari has been acknowledged for his leadership in advancing the state’s digital economy. The expanded role reflects the government’s efforts to diversify and innovate.

“By expanding his role to include the creative economy, we are aligning our efforts to build a more diverse and innovative economic landscape,” Bichi added.

“His appointment as the state focal person for the I-DICE programme will ensure that Kano State capitalizes on this significant opportunity to enhance our digital and creative enterprises.”

The I-DICE programme is a federal initiative aimed at boosting Nigeria’s digital and creative sectors through investments, talent development, and infrastructure support. Dr. Muzakkari’s leadership will be pivotal in maximizing Kano State’s participation in this initiative, creating an environment conducive to innovation and entrepreneurship.

The Kano State Government says it remains committed to promoting sustainable economic development and fostering a culture of innovation and creativity. Through these strategic initiatives, it aims to position Kano as a leading hub for digital and creative enterprises in Nigeria.
