Kano State government on Friday cautioned members of the public to be wary of land grabbers who encroached on Bayero University lands at Rimin-Zakara and sold to people.
Bappa Dan-Agundi, Chairman, taskforce on illegal structures, gave the warning while briefing newsmen on land being forcefully taken over by land speculators in the area.
He expressed disappointment that people could be emboldened to invade portions of land belonging to the university and sold them..
He frowned at the level of encroachment on the school’s land by illegal developers and warned that the state government would deal decisively with the matter by pulling down illegal property on the land.
“I call on the general public to avoid illegal transactions on the university’s land by unaccredited land dealers; whoever buys land from them will have himself to blame.
“Government will not hesitate to pull down any illegal building or structure raised on the university property,’’ he warned.
The taskforce chairman said the state government met with security agencies and the university’s management which confirmed that the people of Rimin-Zakara were not involved in the illegal deals.
He commended community leaders in the area for their cooperation and understanding.
Dan-Agundi said the state government would set up a committee to look into the situation.
