The Kano State Censorship Board (KSCB) has called on the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) to assist in prohibiting unlicensed books and films from being aired on Kano’s media stations.
The appeal was made by the Executive Secretary of KSCB, Alh. Abba El-Mustapha, during his visit to the NBC, emphasizing the commission’s crucial role in maintaining moral standards within the media.

El-Mustapha highlighted the importance of collaboration between KSCB and NBC to ensure strict adherence to regulatory frameworks designed to promote decency and uphold societal values.
He urged NBC’s state coordinator to actively support the board in enforcing laws and regulations, contributing to the overall well-being of the community.
“The Board recognizes the pivotal role of NBC in fostering compliance with its guidelines. Their dedication and cooperation are integral to the success of our vision and mission.”
El-Mustapha reaffirmed KSCB’s commitment to maintaining moral standards and fostering a socially responsible media environment.
In response, NBC’s Kano State Coordinator, Alh. Adamu Salisu, expressed appreciation for the KSCB’s visit and pledged full support and cooperation to achieve the set objectives.
He praised the Board for its relentless efforts in aligning the film industry with societal norms and values.
“The NBC stands ready to support the KSCB in its endeavors to promote responsible media content in the State,” Alh. Adamu assured
NBC slams N5m penalty on Channels Television for breaking broadcast code
Recall that Daily News 24 reported that the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) slammed a fine of N5 million on Channels Television for breaking the broadcasting law in a programme with Dr Datti Baba-Ahmed, Labour Party Vice Presidential candidate.
This was contained in a letter addressed to the Chief Executive Officer of the television station, dated March 27. The letter was exclusively obtained by the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday in Abuja.
