The Kano State Police Command on Thursday, reminded residents of the state, especially, commercial motorcyclists that the recent ban on okada is still in force.

A statement by the Public Relations Officer of the Kano Police Command, SP Haruna Kiyawa, said the Commissioner of Police, CP Sama’ila Shu’aibu Dikko, had directed all Divisional Police Officers within Kano Metropolis to continue to enforce the ban, just as he warned that anyone found disobeying the law, will be decisively dealt with.

He said the ban became imperative in order to protect the lives and property of residents as some disgruntled elements used the motorcycles to commit crimes.

“Any individual or group that violates the ban will be arrested and prosecuted before the court of law. Road users are advised to abide by traffic rules and regulations.” the statement said.

He further said that the “Commissioner of Police appreciated the good people of the state for their prayers, encouragement, continuous support, and cooperation.

“He assured rigorous patrol, raids of criminal hideouts and black spots will continue throughout the state, as the command will sustain the ongoing ‘Operation Puff Adder’ that is yielding positive results.”
