A 67-year-old man, Muhammad Uba, and his 52-year-old wife, Fatima Muhammad, tragically lost their lives in a fire incident that occurred in the early hours of Friday at their residence in Rangaza (Inken) Layin AU, Ungogo Local Government Area of Kano State.
The spokesperson for the Kano State Fire Service, Saminu Abdullahi, confirmed the incident in a statement on Friday.

Abdullahi said, “Today (Friday), the state fire service received a call for emergency assistance at about 01:45 am from one of its staff, Ahmad Abubakar. Moments after the distress call, the fire crew on duty from Bompai fire station were promptly mobilised to the scene and arrived at about 01:51 am.”
Upon arrival, the firefighters discovered that the fire had already been brought under control, but the ground floor of the house, comprising two rooms, had been completely engulfed by flames.
“At the scene, it was noticed that a 67-year-old man, Muhammad Uba, and his wife, Fatima Muhammad, of about 52 years old, were trapped by smoke,” Abdullahi explained.
The victims were rescued from the building unconscious with burns on parts of their bodies but were later confirmed dead by a doctor.
Abdullahi further stated that the remains of the couple were handed over to the ward head, Muhammad Auwalu Rayyanu, of Rangaza in Ungogo LGA. He added that investigations are underway to determine the cause of the fire.
