Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano state has sacked all the 44 local government caretaker chairman ahead of the upcoming local councils elections.
Daily News 24 reports that the governor announced the removal of the caretaker chairman during the state’s weekly executive council meeting on Wednesday.
The decision affects all chairmen, vice chairmen, secretaries, and councillors.
โWe are warning the DPMs to make sure they will not interfere in any political activities as respected civil servants,โ the governor stated.

Governor Yusuf subsequently ordered the Directors of Personnel (DPMs) of all the local councils to take charge.
He also thanked the caretaker chairmen for their contributions to the development of their areas and hinted at potential future collaborations.
The caretaker chairmen, in turn, thanked the governor for the opportunity to serve their communities.
However, it is understood that some of the caretaker chairmen had resigned before now to contest for the council seats in the upcoming polls.
