The Kano state government has said that its planned Systematic Land Titling and Registration (SLTR) would solve the problems of property ownership in the state.

The Information Officer of the Lands ministry, Alhaji Murtala Shehu-Umar, disclosed this in a statement he issued  on Monday, in Kano.

He quoted the Head of Service, Hajiya Binta Lawan-Ahmad, as stating this at the declaration of a five-day validation session on the draft systematic land titling and registration (SLTR) and sectional titling (ST) laws for Kano state.

Lawan-Ahmad further said that the State had accorded priority to ensuring compliance with standard of best practice, especially in areas of governance through a transparent process and procedures in the implementation of government policies and programmes.

She, therefore, assured of the state government’s readiness to collaborate with all stakeholders for the realization of the laws.

Earlier, the Permanent Secretary, Kano State Bureau for Lands Management, Dr. Zainab Ibrahim-Braji, said when the two laws become operational, they would bring a new face to land administration in the state, in line with global best practice.

“The laws would provide ample opportunities and job creation for other professionals such as surveyors, architectures, town planners, estate surveyors and managers”, she said. (NAN)
