In response to the recent surge in Hajj fares announced by the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), the Kano State Government has taken a proactive step to alleviate the financial burden on intending pilgrims.

The announcement was made known by Governor Abba Yusuf on his official X handle on Wednesday afternoon.

Daily News 24 reports that following the abrupt increase of N1.9 million in Hajj fares, the state government approved a subsidy of N500,000 each for pilgrims from Kano who are set to embark on the 2024 pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia.

The move comes as a relief to many intending pilgrims who were grappling with the unexpected spike in travel expenses.

With the subsidy in place, those who have already registered and paid the initial deposit of either N4.7 million or N4.5 million with the State Pilgrims Board will now only need to deposit an additional N1.4 million, effectively offsetting a portion of the steep fare increase imposed by NAHCON.

In light of the subsidy, the State Pilgrims Board has advised eligible pilgrims to proceed with their Hajj preparations and complete the necessary deposit payments in accordance with the revised fare structure.

Additionally, the board has assured pilgrims of its continued support and assistance throughout the pilgrimage process, reaffirming its commitment to ensuring a smooth and hassle-free experience for all participants.

As preparations for the 2024 Hajj pilgrimage continue, the Kano State Government‘s subsidy serves as a beacon of hope for intending pilgrims, offering them much-needed financial relief and reaffirming the government’s unwavering dedication to facilitating the spiritual journey of its citizens.
