The Triumph Publishing Company, owned by the Kano State Government, has been allocated 64 shops worth N1.4 billion.
The allocation, the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports, represents 25 percent of the newly constructed ultramodern Bureau de Change market located in Fagge Local Government Area (LGA) of the state.
Speaking at the handover ceremony, Hajiya Hadiza Abdulkadir, representing Lamash Properties Limited, said it was pursuant to the directive given by the state government.
“On September 11, 2020, Lamash signed an agreement with the Kano State Government under a public-private partnership (PPP) to develop the Bureau de Change ultramodern market at the then premises of the Triumph Publishing Company in Fagge LGA.
“A condition in the signed agreement is to relocate Triumph, a government-owned firm, to a new location at Amana Housing Estate, Kano.
“The development agreement stipulated that the Kano Government shall be entitled to receive N1.4 billion worth of shops,” Abdulkadir said.
Responding, the managing director of Triumph Publishing Company, Alhaji Lawan Sabo-Ibrahim, said the acquisition of the shops would go a long way in restoring the lost glory of the newspaper firm.
“The 25 percent shares of shops given to the Kano State Government consist of 64 shops,” he said.
Sabo-Ibrahim pledged that the publishing firm would, within a short period of time, be remitting revenue to the state government.
“The acquisition of the shops would make the company buy more production machines and equipment, as well as generate more revenue for itself and the state government.”
“I pray to Almighty God to make this a sustainable project and make this part of what the outgoing and incoming governments would see as something to keep the publishing company going,” Sabo-Ibrahim said.
