The Kano State government has set aside an additional N5 billion for the disbursement of the second instalment of pensions and gratuity to retired workers in the state.

Daily News 24 reports that Governor Yusuf revealed this on Wednesday during the 14th state executive council meeting.

The governor said it was unfortunate that the previous government of Abdullahi Ganduje abandoned retired workers without paying them their dues for eight years.

“This is why we decided to release the sum of N5 billion to these workers who have suffered neglect for the past eight years,” he said.

Recall that a few months ago, the governor had released the sum of N6 billion to pay pensions and gratuities for about 5,000 pensioners.
