Gov. Abba Kabir-Yusuf of Kano State has restated commitment to sustainable social development and transformation.

Represented by the Speaker, Kano State House of Assembly, Jibrin Falgore, the governor said his administration would continued with foreign scholarships to indigent students in the state.

This is contained in a statement on Saturday in Kano by Uba Abdullahi, Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker of the Kano State House of Assembly.

According to the statement, the governor stated this in Karaye during the traditional “Hawan Kekasa” hosted by the Karaye Emirate Council as part of the Eid-el-Kabir celebration.

He said the state government would also reintroduce school feeding and provision of free learning materials to pupils in public primary schools as part of efforts to raise standard in the education sector.

“Other top priority areas are ensuring free ante natal and post natal services to pregnant and nursing mothers from conception to delivery, and child healthcare in addition to improving agriculture for food security and sufficiency,” the governor was quoted as saying in the statement.

He urged the people of the state to support government’s policies and programmes as well as pray for peace and unity in the country.

Also, the Emir of Karaye, Dr Ibrahim Abubakar II, thanked the governor and the speaker for gracing the event.

The emir enjoined his subjects to be vigilant and report suspicious persons and movements to the security agencies.
