Speaking to journalists during the visit, Ali Makoda highlighted the significance of the inspection. โWe came with some experts from the Ministry of Water Resources and also Works and Housing to assess the situation. While the Tiga Dam is managed by the Federal Ministry of Water Resources, our role today was to inspect and ensure everything is in good condition,โ he said.
Makoda referenced the recent situation at the Alo Dam, which has prompted widespread concern. โWhat happened at the Alo Dam sent a very negative signal to Nigerians. That is why His Excellency directed us to be here today,โ he explained.
Reassuring the public, Makoda stated that the experts had reviewed the damโs current condition and found no cause for alarm. โWe have listened to the experts, and all indications show that the dam is intact. There is nothing to worry about,โ he confirmed.
The inspection is part of the state governmentโs proactive measures to prevent any potential flooding disasters as the rainy season intensifies. The team is expected to continue their assessment at other key dams in the state, including Bagwai and Challawa.
