Kano State Government says it has concluded arrangements to inaugurate its industrial wastewater treatment plant, to filter hazardous sludge, enhance sanitation and protect the environment.
Dr Kabiru Getso, the Commissioner for Environment, stated this at a news conference on Monday in Kano.
Getso said that the facility would treat hazardous sludge by removing toxic chemicals and convert it into manure for safe use by farmers to boost agriculture in the state.
According to him, industrial waste, if treated professionally, can be converted into organic and inorganic fertiliser as well as bio-gas to generate electricity.
He said that the project was being implemented in partnership between the Federal and Kano State Government “It will go a long way to control pollution and boost food production in the state,’’ he said.(NAN)
