The 37th edition of the Kano State Qur’anic Recitation Competition (Musabaqa) ended on Monday with Faruk Kabir from Tarauni Local Government and Zainab Aliyu Muhammad from Nassarawa Local Government emerging overall winners in the male and female Sixty Hizbs Tafsir and Tajwid categories.

Speaking during the closing ceremony, the Deputy Governor of Kano State and All Progressives Congress (APC) Gubernatorial Candidate Dr. Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna in the address he delivered on behalf of Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje said each of the two overall winners received One million Naira.

He added that the State Government will continue to give priority attention to Qur’anic Islamiyya and Western education for the development of the society.

He pointed out that the establishment of the Qur’anic and Islamiyya Schools Board by the Ganduje administration was the first of its kind in the country aimed at promoting memorization and recitation of the Qur’an.

The Deputy Governor commended some philanthropists for their support and contribution towards the promotion and successful organization of the Qur’anic recitation competition in Kano State.

In his remarks, the Chairman of the Musabaqa Board of trustees, Sheikh Ibrahim Shehu Mai Hula noted that all the participants performed creditably there are no looser therefore appealed to the people of the State to pray for the winners to emerge victorious at the National level of the competition.

He commended Kano State Government for the timely release of the funds and also applauded the effort of the Deputy Governor for also giving out four hundred thousand naira each to the two overall winners which make them to cart away with one million naira each.
