Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, has reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to improving the welfare of civil servants after receiving a report from the state’s advisory committee on the new minimum wage.

This was disclosed in a statement issued by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Dawakin Tofa, on Tuesday.

The committee, chaired by the Special Adviser to the Governor on State Affairs, Usman Bala, was responsible for reviewing and recommending changes to the state’s wage structure.

While receiving the report, Governor Yusuf praised the committee for their extensive research and consultations, expressing confidence in their recommendations. “We chose this committee because we believe in their ability to provide valuable insights and innovative ideas for moving forward,” Yusuf was quoted as saying in the statement.

The governor assured civil servants that his administration remains committed to delivering on its campaign promises, especially concerning their welfare. He urged patience as the government reviews the recommendations to ensure compliance with constitutional guidelines.

Bala, the committee chairman, explained that the proposals were carefully crafted with Kano’s economic realities in mind. He expressed confidence that the new wage structure would not only benefit civil servants but also ensure long-term financial stability for the state.

The final decision on the report is expected to be announced next week.
