The Kannywood Industry Clean-Up Committee, formed by the Kano State Film and Censorship Board, has successfully shut down three illegal film production sites and arrested two directors along with 30 other industry workers.
This major crackdown aims to enforce regulations and restore integrity within the Kannywood industry.

The Chairman of the Clean-Up Committee, Malam Tijjani Asase, reported these achievements to the Chairman of the Kano State Film and Censorship Board, Alhaji Abba El-Mustapha, during a meeting on Tuesday. Malam Asase highlighted the committee’s dedication to ensuring compliance with industry regulations since their appointment.
Alhaji Abba El-Mustapha commended the committee for their hard work and commitment. He emphasized that the committee’s objective is not to discredit individuals but to uphold the laws governing the Kannywood industry. He stated, “The purpose of establishing the committee is to ensure strict adherence to the laws and regulations within the Kannywood industry and to take necessary measures to help the industry progress and compete both nationally and globally.”
El-Mustapha reiterated that the committee’s work is crucial in preventing the misuse of the Kannywood industry’s name for personal gain. He expressed his gratitude to the Kannywood industry members and the people of Kano State for their continued support and cooperation with the Board.
