Voting has commenced in Fagge and 14 other local government areas in Kano state where supplementary elections were scheduled to hold today.
The elections were rescheduled by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) due to incidences of violence and over voting in the state.
Daily News24 spoke to some electorate and observers in Fagge who expressed their confidence in the process of the supplementary polls.
“Most of us have been here since 7 am and we have started voting.
“The election materials arrived on time and there is no incidence of violence in this polling unit here in Fagge” said Mukhtar Sani.
Hadiza Bello, an observer stated that this election has a high number of voters in Fagge, unlike the previous polls.
“As you can see, there is a huge turn out of voters and the BVAS machines are working perfectly.
The machines accredits voters in less than one minute and we hope for a peaceful election.”
Bashir Anwar, a resident of Fagge said “We are conducting our election peacefully. As you can see, there is huge presence of police and other security officials here.
I am confident in the process and I hope the outcome will be very okay.”
Voting is currently underway in 15 local government areas of Kano state, hopes are, that the issues which bedeviled the previous elections will not resurface.
