A recent fire outbreak at the outer court of the Kofar Kudu Palace of the Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, has been described by some youths in Kano as a bad omen and a sign of divine anger.

The incident, which occurred on Saturday, July 13, resulted in no casualties, according to a report by Daily News 24.

The Kano Youth Coalition (KYC) issued a statement through its president, Comrade Abdullahi Nuhu, claiming that the fire was a manifestation of Allah’s displeasure with the Emir and his associates. “The incident was a clear sign that Allah was angry with the Emir and his cohorts,” Nuhu asserted.

Nuhu highlighted that Emir Sanusi’s reinstatement has faced rejection from the judiciary, the populace, and, in their view, from God. “The continued occupation of the palace by Emir Sanusi is illegal and a clear disregard for the rule of law,” he emphasized.

Despite a court judgment halting the dissolution of the Kano Emirates, the state government’s support for Sanusi’s reinstatement continues, which the KYC considers a blatant violation of the law and an affront to justice. “We attribute the fire incident to Allah’s anger with Emir Sanusi’s defiance and disobedience,” the statement elaborated.

Nuhu also quoted Surah An-Nisa Ayat 14, saying, “And whoever disobeys Allah and His Messenger and transgresses His limits – He will put him into the Fire to abide eternally therein, and he will have a humiliating punishment,” to underscore their point.

The KYC warned that Sanusi’s presence in the palace threatens peace and stability in Kano, urging him to vacate immediately to prevent further ominous signs. “We also call on the state government to stop supporting this illegality and respect the rule of law. They must act swiftly to address this situation and ensure that justice is served,” Nuhu added.

The group expressed their determination to not remain passive while the law is disregarded and the people of Kano are deprived of justice. “We demand that Emir Sanusi vacate the throne immediately,” Nuhu concluded.
