The Managing Director, Kano Road and Traffic Agency (KAROTA), Baffa Babba Dan Agundi has vowed to enforce the restrictions placed on tricycle operators after 10pm in the state.
The MD in a statement signed by KAROTA’s Public Relations Officer, Nabulisi Abubakar Kofar Naisa noted that alternate means of transportation would be made available for residents.
The statement reads in parts:
“In view of the above, the agency wishes to inform the general public that arrangements have been made for alternative means of transportation during the affected hours.
“This is coming after the leadership of the State’s Transport Forum declared its support for the state government decision to ban tricycle movement from every 10 PM to curb security challenges.
“I wish to emphasize that, this decision was unanimously adopted after the state security council members deemed it necessary to further safeguard the state from emerging security threats, anyone who violates the order without justification shall be prosecuted accordingly.
“Similarly, Ashiru Umar DO the State Chairman, Kano Transportation Forum was at the agency’s headquarters to confirm readiness to continue operations during the affected hours to ensure people on special duties, travellers, patients and others on emergencies without personal means of transportation gets to their destinations.
“I urge the general public to accord us every necessary support for the safety of lives and properties and the state at large.”
