Students of Kaduna State University, KASU had continued their peaceful protest by marching through the major streets of Kaduna over plans by the state Government to increase school fees by 35,000 to a minimum of 150,000.

The students who are thousands in number commenced the protest from the main campus of the institution along Tafawa Balewa way connect to Waff road and moved to the popular Ahmadu Bello way connecting bank road marching towards the seat of the government of Kaduna state, Sir Kashim Ibrahim house

However, security agencies barricade the students along Sokoto road, closed to the ministry of Works and housing.

Sensing that there is no way forward. The students resulted lying down on the road creating huge traffic hold up. They vow to remain there until the Government addresses their issues

Speaking to reporters, President, National Association of Science students, Abubakar Buhari lamented that the old fees were between 24,000 and 26,000naira depending on the course of study for Idigene, while Non- indigene pay between 31,000 and 36,000 Naira.

He explained that with the development, the returning students would pay a flat rate of 100,000 Naira irrespective of the course of study and indigenization, while – indigenous students would pay 150,000naira for art and humanities and 171,000 for science and non-indigene would pay 221,000 minimum

Daily News 24 gathered that a dialogue meeting is ongoing at the Sir Kashim Ibrahim house

As at the time of filing in this reports, the students are still lying on the streets which have resulted in the diversion of traffic leading to long jam.
