Katsina State Governor Dikko Umar Radda has characterised the defection of former Governor Ibrahim Shehu Shema to the All Progressives Congress, APC, as a homecoming and a reunion with his political family members.
Shortly after Shema was presented with a membership card issued by the Shema Ward Executive of the APC in Dutsinma Local Government Area, Governor Radda made a remark.
The Katsina governor, in a statement released by his Chief Press Secretary, Ibrahim Kaula Mohammed, highlighted the shared experience of both Shema and the immediate past governor, Aminu Bello Masari, who had previously worked together under the late former President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua.

In a recent statement, he highlighted the remarkable shift in the relationship between the two leaders. Despite being previously divided by various circumstances and personal ambitions, they have now found themselves united once again.
Radda has urged fellow patriotic citizens of the state to come together and work towards improving the state’s future. He emphasised that he is open to anyone who wants to contribute to the development of the state.
Ibrahim Shehu Shema made a formal announcement on Thursday, declaring his decision to switch his political allegiance from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
In a significant turn of events, the leadership of the APC in the state has granted him a membership card, complete with a unique serial number of 26551.
A membership card was issued to the former governor at the Shema Ward Party office in Dutsinma. The card was filled out by the state secretary of the APC and presented by the state chairman of APC, Alhaji Sani Aliyu Daura.
Alhaji Jabirru Abdullahi Tasuri, the Chief of Staff to Governor Radda, accepted the membership card on behalf of the Katsina governor. The card will be personally handed over to former Governor Ibrahim Shema by the governor himself.

The state chairman of the APC, Alhaji Sani Aliyu Daura, has praised Governor Radda and his predecessor, Masari, for their efforts in securing the defection of an influential figure. He has also promised fair treatment for the former governor.
In a statement delivered by the state secretary of the APC, Suleiman Nanadi, it was emphasised that the decision of former Governor Barrister Ibrahim Shema to join the party is seen as a testament to the success and popularity of the APC.
