Azeez Mohammed, the Head Coach of Katsina United Football Club, on Sunday in Lafia expressed disappointment with the late minute goal his team conceded against hosts Nassarawa United FC.
Mohammed expressed his disappointment while speaking with newsmen shortly after their 0-1 loss to Nasarawa United at the Lafia Township Stadium.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Nasarawa United scored in the sixth minute of added time in the 2021/2022 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) Match Day 8 encounter.
“I am disappointed with the outcome of the encounter. We played well and the boys had already taken the match only for a last minute loss of concentration to cost us the match,” Mohammed said.
He however praised the defensive efforts of the team in holding back the Nasarawa United team for 90 minutes before conceding the added minute goal.
“In spite of the defeat, I am happy with the rhythm because even in the first three matches, we were not getting the rhythm. I think now we are getting it right.
“We just need to keep our heads. We need to work hard and see that the team get the right rhythm and they get the right frame of mind to deal better with a game like this next time,” the coach added.
NAN reports that in spite of the flurry of goalscoring chances created by both sides, they both failed to take their chances throughout the regulation time of 90 minutes.
Murmuring and discontent from supporters in the stands provided the sting Nasarawa United needed to up their game.
In the 6th minute of extra time, they finally scored a goal through a shot in the penalty box by Shammasu Mohammed.
It was a goal which shocked the away side who had defended brilliantly for more than 90 minutes.(NAN)
