The Federal University Dutsinma (FUDMA) in Katsina State has named its clinic, Professor Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo clinic, after the Founder and President of Maryam Abacha American University of Niger, (MAAUN).
The Vice Chancellor of FUDMA, Professor Armayau Hamisu Bichi disclosed at the official opening of the clinic at the permanent site of the university in Dutsinma on Monday.
He said the decision to name the clinic Professor Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo clinic followed the approval of the FUDMA governing council.
According to Bichi, the decision was taken in view of Professor Adamu Gwarzo’s tremendous support and magnanimity to FUDMA.
“Besides the Federal and Katsina state governments, no one has supported or assisted the university like Professor Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo since it was established.
“Professor Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo is a young man so humble and God-fearing who uses his wealth for the social and economic development of mankind and for the support of people with low income.
Professor Bichi, who commended the MAAUN President for the support he has been giving to FUDMA, said the university had also benefited from a number of assistance including a luxurious bus worth millions of Naira for the use of students in the University.
He said in addition, Professor Adamu Gwarzo had also provided the university with furniture, UNESCO books, and an ambulance to the university clinic.
He prayed to God to continue to uplift Professor Adamu Gwarzo and his family as well as give him the strength to continue to empower the youth through the provision of a high-quality and sound education.
In his remarks, Professor Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo thanked the university management for naming the facility after him.
He promised to get FUDMA international accreditation to enable it to compete with other universities across the globe.
According to him, any university that lacks international accreditation is always considered a local university.
He also promised to assist the university to be registered under UNESCO saying very soon the university would be the second to be under UNESCO in the country.
He said all the staff at the Department of French in the university have been given an automatic scholarship to study Ph.D. degree at the Maryam Abacha American University in Niger Republic.
