Honourable Abdulrahman Kawu Sumaila, former Assistant to President Mohammad Buhari on National Assembly Matters and former Member representing Sumaila Takai in the National Assembly, has accused the incumbent senator representing Kano South Senator Kabiru Ibrahim Gaya of alleged vote buying of Kano South Senatorial Zone electorates.
Alhaji Abdulrahman Kawu Sumaila made the allegation during a media briefing held in Kano on Saturday.
The former lawmaker, who is currently the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) Kano South senatorial candidate in the forthcoming election, lamented that the incumbent senator was hiding under the shade of empowerment and was trying to buy the votes of people.
“At this material time that remains few days to election senator Kabiru Gaya who has not visited any of his constituents in the last three and half years has now started distributing money to electorates in the name of empowerment, I urge ICPC, EFCC and other related agencies to investigate this allegation and appropriate measures.”
Abdulrahman Kawu Sumaila said Kano South has been witnessing bad representation at the Senate, and it is time for change.
“Our people are tired of this mis- representation ,many people have lost thier lives in kano Wudil -Gaya road because of the bad condition of the road, for over ten years that senator Gaya was at the Senate nothing has been done to save the people of this area from the bad condition this road was in”
“For all these years Senator Gaya was representing the people of Kano South, no town hall meeting was organized to hear from the people he is representing ,this is so unfortunate and is an element of bad representation “
The NNPP kano south senatorial candidate maintained that if given the mandate ,he will change the narratives by ensuring people were being carried along through organizing townhall meetings .
“I’ve visited all the wards in Kano South Senatorial Zone. I know their needs, and we have already mapped out a befitting blueprint. I promise you that if we win, our people will get to enjoy the benefits of democracy.” Kawu Sumaila added.
