The chairman of Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) Kebbi state, comrade Umar Halidu Alhassan on Monday called on the executive governor of Kebbi state Senator Atiku Bagudu to hasten the implementation of the partial minimum wage of seven thousand naira to the staff of local governments and local governments’ education authorities in the state.

The labour chief made the call in Birnin Kebbi at the NUT house during the inauguration of NLC women wing conference and elections. According to him, since the state government added seven thousand to certain civil servants in the state pending negotiation for the consequential adjustment, local governments staff and their counterparts in education authorities were not enjoying it hence the demand for their inclusion.

Halidu who commended the NLC women wing described their contribution to the success of the labour movement as invaluable, he noted that NLC Kebbi state was gender-sensitive as almost all their excos were women.

He particularly lauded the efforts of health workers in the state over their handling of the covid-19 situation at the heat of the pandemic “let me call on the state government to pay all allowances of nurses and doctors in the state on the frontline for their effective management of covid19.”  he said.
