The company’s Head of Health, Safety, and Environment, Umar Shehu Hashidu, while delivering the lectures, reminded the students, teachers, and community of their roles and responsibilities towards saving the environment against plastic and other forms of pollution.

The statement added that, highlights of the event was KEDCO sponsored tree planting exercise within the school premises in its way of contributing to combatting global warming and other environmental benefits like prevention of soil erosion and flooding.

Other highlights were constitution and activation of Energy Club with 10 students in line with KEDCO’s catch-them-young initiative.

The members of the Energy Club are embellished as the Company’s ambassadors in propagating basic knowledge of energy sustainability, understanding of household energy consumption and to create awareness around energy conservation and energy efficiency within their respective communities.

Additionally, the students inducted would be equipped with basic knowledge of the electricity industry and capacity building with a view to preparing the minds of some of them who would want to have a career in the sector or study electrical engineering in the future.

The statement also quoted the principal of the school, Haj. Sadiya Muhammad, as saying “We are delighted to receive KEDCO team in our school today to commemorate the World Environment Day 2023 and to activate the first Energy Club”.

She expressed appreciation for the educative lectures and tree planting exercise and optimistic that her students will be great ambassadors of KEDCO and the society at large.
