Members of the Kaduna Primary Healthcare Board have commended the state Governor, Nasir El-rufai, for upholding the state’s primary healthcare service.

Chairman of the board, Dr Sani Muhammed Jibril, said the Governor had achieved greatly for providing functional Healthcare facilities in all the 23 Local Government Areas and 255 wards in the state.

This was said during a two-day orientation meeting for Board members of Kaduna Primary Health Care Board (SPHCB) held in Kano.

Jibril noted that the state’s primary healthcare services were scattered, fragmented, and disintegrated before but was delighted they can now practice primary healthcare under one roof.

“What we are saying is that now we are going to have one management, one plan and one monitoring, evaluation, so that is essentially what we are doing for the board members”.

“Kaduna state has reached over 90% on the National Primary Health Care Under One Roof program scorecard”.

“I think the primary Health Care Development Board has really done well”.

He explained that the issues highlighted in the communique are for participants to understand the concept of Primary Health Care Under One Roof (PHCUOR) and complement the effort of the Kaduna state government under the leadership of Mallam Nasiru Ahmed El-rufai on the goal of the world Health system to ensure access to sustainable, quality and acceptable and affordable health services with full implementation and participation of members of the community.

Meanwhile, the Advocacy, Campaign and Policy Manager of Save the Children International(SCI), Mr Ifedilichukwu Ekene Innocent, who was present at the occasion, has harped on community participation in Primary Health Care Kaduna state.

He said SCI is hoping to see a situation where community members can participate and expressed things that are not good in facilities within their vicinity to get improvement.

Mr Ifedilichukwu Ekene Innocent pledged that Save the Children International (SCI) is committed to holding series of activities within the community with WDC, with various facilities, and then with the community members themselves.

“In a town hall meeting, mobilizing them to understand what their rights are regarding the basic health care provisions”, he disclosed.
