Kano State Government has confiscated substandard goods worth a millions of Naira in less than one month.
Managing Director of Kano State Consumer Protection Council, General Idris Bello Dambazau retired stated this in reviewing the activities of the Council, from his inception to date.
Dambazau said the operation succeeded after the diligent work of their staff and information from good people of the State.

“Actually the people of Kano State are contributing toward the success of this giant operation, especially in the rural areas of Kano, where this bad egg usually hide around to sell substandard goods to the residents.
“As you know our communities are also playing important role to see that good people of Kano are living healthy.
“Because our work is behind the secret of healthy society, where business people, companies with substandard goods don’t have any hiding ground,” Gen. Dambazau reiterated.
The Managing Director of Kano State Consumer Protection Council added that, part of the goods that were confiscated recently include cooking oil, soaps, animal feeds, chemicals and engine oil.
“All this product are the once we’re dealing with on daily basis, for instance substandard cooking oil, soaps and cosmetics, no doubt will be of harmful effect to our people.
“And in essence, no body who has a guarantee of shunning away from it or consuming with his family, because only professionals will be able to detect and recognize such products”.
The Managing Director said his vision to achieve in the Kano State Consumer Protection Council as head, is to fulfil all the mandate that established the agency, and reform those people that are in the habit of harming the society.
After my appointment as the Managing Director, we visited Ministries of Commerce and Industry and Justice, which will help us achieve our duties well, contacts with key stakeholders to remind them on the healthy nature of our State,” Idris Bello Dambazau.
He then added that, a Certificate of recognition will be soon given to Companies, Business people that are not producing harmful and substandard material to the Kano State residents.
Gen. Dambazau retired appealed to the good people of Kano, to also join them in the war against selling of any substandard goods, quickly after getting such report to their office behind Federal Road Safety Corp headquarters in Kano, or the other branch in Club Road.
