Kano State Consumer Protection Council (KSCPC) has uncovered already dead animals intended to be sold for public consumption.
The dead animals were uncovered at Unguwa Uku Yan Awaki Abattoir in Tarauni Local Government Area.
The acting Managing Director of the Council, Baffa Babba-Dan’agundi announced the incident in a statement made available to newsmen by his spokesman, Musbahu Yakasai.
He explained that the Council was tipped with the information about the dead animals being taken to the abattoir at about 6:00am on Monday.
The informants revealed that some dead goats and rams were brought to the Abattoir with the intention of selling the meat to consumers.
“They became suspicious that they (animals) were already dead before they were slaughtered.
“Our team immediately swung into action and seized the animals,” the statement said.
The council invited a veterinary doctor who confirmed the animals were not fit for human consumption.
The statement confirmed the arrest of the suspects saying that they will face the wrath of the law accordingly.
