The Kano state police command has arrested a suspected escapee from the Kuje correctional center. 

A statement from the Kano police command says credible information and sustained intelligence gathering prompted ‘Team Operation Restore Peace’ attached to the command’s Criminal Investigation Department, (CID) arrested 25-year-old Abubakar Sadiq on 23rd September 2022 at Rangaza Quarters in Ungogo LGA, Kano State.

Sadiq is among the inmates with  Boko Haram and Terrorism cases who escaped from the Kuje correctional center during the jail attack on July 5th 2022.

Following his arrest, the suspect was subsequently handed over to the Nigeria Correctional Service Kano State Command.

The Kano commissioner of Police CP Abubakar Lawal appreciated the people of Kano State for their continuous support, leading to the arrest of the suspected escapee and also charged them to report suspicious people and happenings to the nearest Police Station and not take laws into their hands.
