The Adamawa Emirate council has revoked a traditional title of ‘Muqqadas Adamawa’ which was conferred on Umar Mustafa over alleged unguarded utterances against the government and the traditional institution in the state.
The Lamido of Adamawa, Alh. Muhammadu Barkindo Aliyu Mustafa was said to have approved the withdrawal of the title as a result of the alleged comments of the title holder over the recent distribution of SUV vehicles to first traditional rulers by the state government.

A statement issued by Khalil Kawu, the Secretary, Adamawa Emirate Council, said the Monarch regretted the outburst of the title holder and concluded that he does not deserve to hold the title anymore.
Recall that Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri had presented the first class traditional rulers in the state with vehicles as part of his peace building initiative.
Lamido of Adamawa said Umar does not deserve to hold the title as a result of his deliberate attack on the governor on the presentation of vehicles to the first class traditional rulers in the state.
The statement quoted the monarch as saying “the unguarded utterances on the government is unwarranted and is an affront on the traditional institution which he is part and parcel of.”
“Lamido Mustapha expressed dismay over the attitude where such people have refused to show understanding with the good intentions of government to the traditional institution.
“He said the presentation of the vehicles by the Fintiri administration comes after a long period of time when the institution benefitted from such laudable gesture and wondered why that has become an issue to some people when they are expected to support the government towards promoting its well intentioned peace building initiative across the state” the statement concluded.
