According to Spanish news outlet El Nacional, Messi wants the current Barcelona head coach, Xavi, to remain as the club manager.
Xavi became the permanent manager of Barcelona back in November 2021 after Ronald Koeman was sacked.
The Spaniard was a former Barcelona teammate with Messi during his playing career at Camp Nou.
He has done a great job of reviving the squad, as the Catalan club are on the cusp of winning their first La Liga title in four years.
Messi has another year on his contract with the Parisians, but the 35-year-old wants Xavi’s stay to be extended at Blaugrana, as he is keen to join forces with his good friend in the foreseeable future.
