Hosts Lobi Stars Football Club on Wednesday beat title contenders Nasarawa United of Lafia 3-2 in Makurdi in a 2020/2021 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) Match Day 34 fixture.

The visitors opened scores as early as the second minute through Eche Amos, while Lobi Stars equalised in the 18th minute from a sublime free-kick taken by skipper Mathias Samuel.

Nasarawa United took the lead again in the 27th minute through Silas Nwankwo who outpaced Ozor Chinedu to shoot past goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali.

Samuel made it a brace for himself in the 29th minute with a shot into the far corner of the net for Lobi Stars’ second equaliser.

Austin Ogunye, after a beautiful interchange of passes with Chinonso Okonkwo, scored what turned out to be the winning goal towards the end of the first half.

An excited Lobi Stars’ coach, Kabiru Dogo, explained that it was relieving for him to beat his former side.

“I only want to appeal to our fans to remain patient with the team,” he said.

Nasarawa United coach, Baba Ganaru, on his part praised his players for their performance, exuding confidence that his team would definitely secure a ticket to play on the continent next season.(NAN)
