The Stallion Times and the esteemed MacArthur Foundation came together in a collaborative endeavor to advance investigative journalism and empower journalists.
DailyNews24 reports that their joint effort resulted in a remarkable one-day training workshop titled “Get Involved, Dialogue, and Improve Project (GDRIP).”
The workshop centered on equipping participants with essential skills and techniques utilized in the field of investigative journalism.
The training workshop, held at the 10 to 10 restaurant conference hall on Zoo Road, Kano, brought together 40 journalists from various media outlets who were eager to enhance their investigative reporting capabilities.
The joint initiative aimed to support journalists in their quest for truth, encourage accountability, and strengthen the integrity of journalism.
The training was led by veteran investigative journalists Isyaku Ahmed and Idris Muhammad, who have so many years of experience in investigative journalism and shared their insights on how to conduct effective investigative reporting.
They also taught participants how to gather data, present evidence, and write a good pitch for an investigative report.
The training was a success, and it is hoped that it will help to strengthen investigative journalism in Kano and Nigeria at large.
