Justice Jane Inyang of the Federal High Court sitting in Kano on Monday, sentenced a 42-year-old man, Muhyiddeen Jamilu, to 15 years imprisonment for trafficking three men to Libya.

Justice Inyang convicted Jamilu, who resides in Brigade Gama ‘B’ area of Kano after he pleaded guilty to the three counts preferred against him by the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP).

Counsel to NAPTIP, Abdullahi Babale, had earlier told the court that the convict committed an offense Contrary to Section 26(2)NAPTIP Act of 2015.

Babale told the court that the victims, Aminu Bilyaminu, 21, Aminu Haruna, 28, and Olatubosun Balogun, 48 headed to Libya from Kano through Babura/Babban Mutum Border of Jigawa and Niger state.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the court sentenced Jamilu to five years on each of three counts for an intent to obtain a financial benefit fraudulently
