A mechanic, Michael Mairiga, was on Wednesday docked in a Wuse Zone Six Chief Magistrates’ Court, for allegedly stealing a customer’s car spare part worth N150,000.

Mairiga is charged with two counts of theft and mischief.

He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The Prosecution Counsel, Silas Nwafoku, told the court that the defendant committed the offence sometime in January 2022 in Abuja.

Nwafoku alleged that the complainant, Onuoha Kingsley reported the matter at the Apo Police Station on Jan.20.

The prosecutor also said that the complainant gave the defendant his truck, a 2012 model Hilux, for a panel beating work.

He said the defendant cut off a cable worth N150,000 in the truck and sold it for N20,000.

Nwafoku said the offence contravenes the provisions of sections 288 and 327 of the Penal Code Law.

The Magistrate, Fatima Ibrahim, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N300,000 with one surety in like sum.

She adjourned the matter until May20, for hearing. (NAN)
