Mikel Arteta is the latest person in the Premier League to test positive for COVID-19, which means that he will not be on the touchline for Arsenal’s match against Manchester City at the Emirates Stadium on January 1.
The Gunners have been in great form recently, having their last five games in all competitions, as Arteta has guided his side up to fourth in the Premier League table.
“Mikel Arteta will miss our match against Manchester City on New Year’s Day after testing positive for COVID-19,” read Arsenal’s statement.

“Mikel is isolating in line with Government guidelines and we wish him well.”
It is expected that Albert Stuivenberg or Steve Round will take charge of Arsenal in Arteta’s absence.
After facing City, Arsenal take on Liverpool in the first leg of the Carabao Cup semi-finals on January 6, so Arteta will be hoping to be back in time for this fixture. (Marca)
