Troops of Forward Operation, a component of Operation Hadarin Daji in Zamfara State, on Monday, repelled an attack on Anka town, Anka Local Government Area of the state, killing one bandit.

DAILY POST gathered from residents that the military troops acted on intelligence reports of a planned bandits’ attack on the town.

They said operatives battled the bandits in a gun duel that lasted for several hours.

Sources within the military also said the troops conducted a fighting patrol against the terrorists at Unguwar Mai-Rakumi village in Anka Local Government Area where the operation took place.

It was also gathered that the troops overpowered the terrorists and forced them to retreat.

One bandit was killed in the gun battle, 1 motorcycle, 1 AK-47 and large quantities of 7.62mm ammunition were recovered from the criminals.

The troops have reportedly continued to dominate the general area to capture and deny the bandits freedom to operate.
