Ata made this statement during his first official visit to Kano after being sworn into the Federal Executive Council. Speaking with journalists, he said, “My appointment was mainly for political reasons. APC has lost Kano State, and now it will take it back. The main problem is the Kano Central, and I am from there.”
The minister emphasized his dedication to the political cause despite his new role. “Even as a minister, I will continue to sit in this ward. We are going to work very hard to ensure APC gains control of Kano State by 2027,” Ata stated.
“My mission, as I said, is purely political. Although I am assigned to the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, I will fulfill my duties there, but I will be coming to Kano State every week to work towards reclaiming the state.”
Ata expressed his gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the appointment, noting that it was not just for him but for the benefit of the people of Kano and Nigeria. He assured the president that APC would regain control of Kano by the next election cycle, saying, “This is my assurance given to the President.”
